Benefit for Melissa Ware

Melissa and Tim Ware have lived in the Wautoma area for more than 15 years. Melissa has worked for the Wautoma school district for approximately 14 years while Tim has built his construction business. Melissa was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on March 12, 2018. Unfortunately, She was 36 years old at diagnosis. This news was nothing short of life changing for Melissa, her husband and her children. Melissa’s cancer is incurable and she was given approximately two years left to live. After an unsuccessful chemotherapy treatment and immunotherapy trial, Melissa is currently undergoing a second round of chemotherapy in hopes to keep the cancer from spreading as it has already metastasized to her lungs, lymph nodes, and liver.  

At this time there are no surgical options available for Melissa. With her husband, Tim, at her side, she drives to Madison every other week for treatments. Through all of this, Melissa has continued to work for the Wautoma Area School District as the Technology Director. 

In order to offset the costs of medical bills and to provide Melissa with the opportunity to live her life to the fullest, friends are hosting a benefit for her. Join us on Sunday, August 11, from 11am until 3pm at Moose Inn of Wautoma. Brunch will be served for $15 per person. Tickets can be purchased for the cornhole tournament, a basket raffle, and a large-item raffle. Ten percent of what is raised will be donated to the National Foundation for Cancer Research, which supports the continued fight to cure all forms of cancer. The remaining funds generated will be given to Melissa to continue making memories with her family.
